The Roy Hilal Central Committee will meet today (Thursday) in Karachi to watch moles during Ramadan, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The meeting will be chaired by Mufti Muneeb Rahman.

The district and other district committees will also meet simultaneously, according to the spokesman's notification, adding that the Islamabad District Committee will hold a meeting at the Kohsar complex.

A day earlier, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry ruled out the possibility of seeing the moon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, saying it It would not be possible to see the moon during sunset using telescopes.

He confirmed this based on a computer-generated image showing the exact location of the moon.

The image was created by the Pakistani Committee for Space and Upper Atmospheric Research (Suparco).

On April 23, the moon will be just two degrees above the horizon at sunset. It is impossible to determine the moon during sunset using telescopes.

Therefore, if anyone living in Pakistan wants to fast with people in Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia it is up to them.

The ministry had previously stated that the Ramadan moon would be seen across the country on April 24 and that the month of Ramadan would begin on April 25.

The ministry is expected to hold a press conference today to officially announce the start of Ramadan.
Chaudhry also announced that, for the first time in the country's history, the Ministry of Science was represented on the Ruet-i-Hilal Commission.

The Joint Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Tariq Masou has been appointed as a member of Technical Support.

This is a step in the right direction Chaudhry said on Twitter. Religious occasions and festivals should be a cause for unity not a division between people. On this positive note, we must make progress.
