Karachi will likely see a heatwave from May 5 to 8, according to forecasts of Pakistan Meteorological Department on Friday.

According to the heatwave warning issued on the PMD website, the daytime temperature will range between 40 and 42 ° C during this period.
The alert added that the wind direction will go northwest/west in general to the southwest at night.

In an interview with Dawn.com Sardar Sarfaraz from the Meteorological Department explained that it is the wind that blows from the sea in general that keeps the city cool.
However, the sea breeze will remain suspended during this time and will be replaced by the dry winds of Balochistan. This will cause the temperature to rise he said.

He added that the urban city is likely to experience a moderate heat wave during this period with temperatures rising to 40 ° C on May 5 and 42 ° C between May 6 and 8.
In 2015, Karachi experienced the most deadly heatwave in Pakistan in more than 50 years.

As of June 19 of that year, the coastal city experienced stifling heat that lasted for more than five days killing more than 1,200 people and wounding 40,000 with a heatstroke and heat exhaustion in its wake.
