Minister of Human Rights Sherine Mazari has ordered an investigation into the
demolition of 75 shacks in a G-11/4 slum by the Islamabad administration
without issuing a legal notice, the News newspaper reported on Saturday. She said
immediate action would be taken if a police officer was found involved in the
accident. The minister said that 75 families who were expelled will receive
shelter and compensation as soon as possible.Deputy
Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqat said the official who approved
the operation had been arrested. He added that the authorities that carried out
the operation said that the area was a center for professional beggars, but
that the investigation would reveal the facts.On Thursday,
a team from the DCA demolished a series of homes that were built in the
informal settlement. The CDA police escorted the mission.Chief Punjab
of the Awami Labor Party Ammar Rashid shared the video of the accident on the
