Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that the national lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus has eased given the situation in other countries in the world, as well as economic and public problems in Pakistan.
A meeting was held with Prime Minister Imran in the presidency to review the implementation of the instructions to ease the blockade across the country. The meeting was attended by federal ministers Asaad Omar, Hammad Azhar, Shibli Faraz, and Khusrow Bakhtiar, as well as the two advisers, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Abdul Razzaq Dawood.
According to the sources, the Prime Minister has received information about the general situation related to coronavirus in the country and statistics from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC). He also briefed the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for National Security Moaid Yusuf the Prime Minister on the return of Pakistanis abroad.
Sources told Geo News that the meeting also discussed the prevalence of the virus in the country, which has exploded in recent days.
Prime Minister Imran said that an integrated strategy must be formulated to make fans easily available and ensure their best use. He added that the siege was eased due to the economic situation and the challenges facing people in Pakistan as well as the conditions in foreign countries.
The Prime Minister said that the government has gradually eased the blockade across the country to maintain a balance between economic activities and measures to protect against COVID-19. He noted that countries around the world realized that the blockade to contain the epidemic was only a temporary effort but he added that security measures should not be ignored under any circumstances.
Prime Minister Imran was also tasked with alleviating concerns about coronavirus testing over several quarters, encouraging the public to self-test in the event of an individual's symptoms and informing people of how to self-test.
It is worth noting here that the positive cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have risen to more than 31,000 people, while 700 people have lost their lives due to the fatal infection.
